Susan's Story
At the present time I live in a house in Hartsdale where my children grew up. Chose this place because it was multicultural and my ex and I wanted to raise our children in this type of community.
I am a mother of 2 sons(one owns two restaurants around Lowell,Ma. and one is into graphic arts in NYC) and a daughter who manages a group home for developmentally disabled young adults in Westchester. I am also the very proud grandmother of a college graduate, high school graduate, 17 year old(all girls) and a 8 year old grandson who lives in NYC. I get to hang out with him on Friday afternoons!
My career was that of a special education teacher for 25 years in the elementary school. I loved all those years.Teaching was a passion for me. Children keep you young so I do some subbing. I retired a few years ago.
During many years I volunteered in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, mentored a HS student and volunteered for twin boys ...Expand for more
from a group home. I have a tender heart!
Love to be active and on the go! It is easy to choose what to do since I am retired. I am active in Kiwanis, a woman's club, bowl once a week in a league, and was trained as a CERT volunteer among many other things. Traveled to many distant places like Africa and Vietnam and hope to continue.
Still love tie-dyes and music of the 60's-folk, rock and roll, jazz as well as classical. Denims are a big part of my wardrobe. I am into casual although I look pretty good dressed up. I am young at heart and look younger than my years!
Love to garden, read, exercise, dance go to movies including foreign films, cook(although I don't do that for myself)and go out to eat. Love ethnic foods.
Enjoy watching sports-
GO Giants and Mets!(I'm loyal to New York).
That's it for now. Look forward to hearing from others from the class of '60 and '61. I was a part of both but graduated in '60.
