Susan's Story
Life
After leaving Mt Zion Jr year, my time in Morris was brief (Sr yr only) but memorable (homecoming court with Mike Darrin). Living back in Phoenix since 84 SIU graduation. Kids 2. Dogs 2. Life is busy. Career continues to evolve. Folks left Morris in 95 returning to my native Arizona, so now no more roots in Illinois. Arizona climate drives our lifestyle. Fitting in everyone's favorite sports and activities is challenging.
Career: Worked thru college in a swimsuit; looked for a career in a pool - it lead to selling for Sheraton and Radisson before redirecting to my major-advertising. Found job as Exec Asst to Agency President followed by competing nationally to land a new position as Retail Marketing Director for a powerhouse Arizona radio station Buck Owens later sold to Clear Channel for $85 million; Worked for State of Arizona for 10 years managing over 100 million in media budget 5 yrs for Lottery, 5 yrs for Tobacco program. ard winning and Emmy nominated sports show 04-08 and aspire to sell screenplays like everyone else. This requires writing them first. And the one thing I learned for certain in college is "The art of writing is re-writing".
Family: Life's vicissitudes took me in unexpected directions. The rudder was busy working but the centerboard wasn't placed. The upside is being a single mom to two outrageously entertaining children. And a lot of camp receipts we frame for artwork. Now the teenage years. Why we get amnesia about those years as parents?
Me: If I had to go on match.com, all I could think to say is "bite me". Pretty absurd for a writer, but there must be a more real way to meet people.
A few highlights since MCHS graduation: SIU grad 84; Venezuela trip 83-84; First Cactus Cup mountain bike race 1987 Carefree, AZ; Best Damn Bike Ride 150 miles to Havasu Dam 1990; Met Bill and Hillary Clinton in Whitehouse 1995 pre Monica bust; Albuquerque Balloon Fest 2003; 2004 Hiked Grand Canyon South rim to North in 1-day (21 miles in 12hrs 15 min); Better do something exceptional pretty soon here.
