Susan's Story
Dear Class of 79 friends,
So next year is the 30th year of our departure from Service Hanshew! Can't believe time has gone by so fast. I miss my dear friend Linda Ayers. I was so shy in seventh grade - and she pulled me out of it and made me laugh all day. I think she saved me. She was, however, the faster than me in track which made me surprised since i seemed to be twice her height. Awkward age, seventh/eighth grade, isn't it.
I still remember all the athletic people and hope that Robyn Macon is doing great. She seemed to have a tremendous athletic ability even in highschool.
My very favorite class was a PE class where we hiked up a mountain situated halfway to Alyeska. Terrible, I forgot the instructor's name - but he was made the class very instructive and the same time very outdoors.
I've continued to enjoy the outdoors in California - where my husband and I lived in the high desert (100 plus degree heat) - and now Pennsylvania which...Expand for more
is mild. I've gone from cold to hot extremes and settled on the mid-temperatures of the East Coast.
Never thought we'd end up here as a family. I have three children ages (son) 19, (daughter) 14, (daughter) 7. They all are somewhat athletic, too. My son likes weightlifting, middle daughter volleyball, and youngest swimming.
My husband and self like to cycle a lot. I'd say that is our defining self - besides music. Music has always been my passion. Can't wait to hear more from others from my class of 79'. College at UAA was great - and also I've taken some music courses at West Chester Uni. here in PA.
PA has a lot of opportunities for musicians. I am currently teaching a few piano students, taking care of my family, and hoping to perform as soon as I am ready to do it. I like to play music for church, and also for events such as weddings/funerals - and have my own portable keyboard now which makes playing elsewhere much easier. Susan
