Susan's Story

Life Well I have been checking this site out for a long time now and I love reading about how people I went to school with are doing, so I figure it is time I said something. Not sure how to write about my life since high school. I got married way to young. 19 as I recall. We were married for 7 years, on and off, mostly off, before we grew up and moved on. I was a single mother for 6 or so years and I loved it. I got married again and that was a bit better than the first time, and it last 29 years. Should have ended on the first date, but hey, I was addicted to living on the edge then. I had another child and got out of the second marriage when she was grown up and had moved out. He past away before I could divorce him, so now I am a widow and loving my life. I am an alcohol and drug counsellor and work mainly with men, and I love that too. My life has been difficult, fun, funny and interesting and it has made me who I am today, so I am grateful for all of it. I am just amazed that I am still here. : ) So this has taken a while and I am sure the minute I post it I am going to want to take it back, ...Expand for more
but hey living on the edge is a hard habit to break. : ) Keep breathing. As long as you are still breathing, you are winning. So here I am several years after I wrote the first part of this story...... lol I have been told I should write a book, but too much work for me. lol I am still an addiction counselor, working with men and loving it. Moved to Kelowna for a few years to hang out with my grand kids, but I got really bored not working. Anyone who knows anything about Recovery Houses knows it next to impossible to find a good one. Not only to live in, but for me, to work in. Not the clients, ever. The owners are the problem. Anyway I am back in Surrey working (well can't really call it work) in an excellent house and is run by a great friend, so it has all gone the way it was supposed to. I was afraid to come back here and see what I had written about my life, but I was pleasantly surprised. LOL I said it pretty well. lol I have a pretty good life these days. Actually when I look back I have always had a pretty good life. Sometimes I made it harder than I need to, but it was definitely interesting...
