Susan's Story
I just became 60 years old 1/8/08. Can't believe it!! Sixty is old! I feel great though. Anyway, a quick bio: After two years at Southwestern JC, I attended and graduated from University of Alaska in Fairbanks with a Bachelors in Education. Traveled a lot with my husband, Kip Groves. Kip was a pilot and adventurer and life was always exciting and interesting with him. I became a teacher of Transcendental Meditation as well as a high school teacher. Then with the birth of my only daughter in 1985 I became a full-time mother-at-home. I moved to Austin, Texas in 1992, following one of my divorces, and have been here ever since. I think this is the longest time I have lived in one place in my whole life. I visit San Diego periodically because my brothers and their families, as well as other friends, are still living there so I enjoy connecting with my 'home town' from time to time. is past summer. Now that college is done paid for, I feel 'footloose and fancy free' and in the 'girls just want to have fun mode', although my idea of 'fun' is probably pretty boring to most people, as it usually consists of indulging in new-age spiritual wackiness, Like The Work of Byron Katie or The Eckart Tolle's "Power of Now" or, like Ray Karzweil's book "The Singularity". I have been single for the past five years and love it after spending almost 30 years of my life as a married woman. This past year has been my first real experience of living absolutely alone, since even my daughter is now out and living her own life. I think being alone is great! I don't know why more people are not raving about the delights of being completely on one's own. So far its been nothing but wonderful! I would love to hear from anyone. As I looked at the names from my schools, a lot of them sounded familiar, but I couldn't place the faces. I did mention that I am sixty years old, right? Blessing to all, Susan
