Who am I? I'm a 65 yr. old wife,Mom,Grandma+Great-Grandma.I always knew I wanted to get married and have kids but I would have preferred a boy and a girl instead I had 6(five girls+1 boy).I got married 18 days shy of my 18th birthday to a man I met and married after 9 days.He was a Marine.I met him on February 17th,1967 and we married on February 26th in Tijuana, Mexico after driving to Las Vegas, Nevada and found out we couldn't marry there because he was only 20 and needed his parents ok to get married mind you he was a Veteran of the Vietnam War(he didn't need their ok for him to go to Nam) our friend wanted us to wait till the next weekend but he told our friend No I got her to say Yes if I wait she will change her mind(I think I would have)so Tijuana here we come.Got married and dropped him back at Camp Pendleton,Ca. and didn't see him again for 3 days. could get re-married in the US.His CO was PO'd told him if the Corps wanted him to have a wife they would have issued him one. When he got to my house he called his parents who I had met on the 25th of Feb.needless to say they were surprised as well as a little upset but his Mom planned a nice little Church wedding for the 4th of March at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawthorne. We have been married 47 years and besides our kids we now have 33 grandkids+11 great-grandkids some blood some by marriage but all loved the same.I don't know if I can truly say I wouldn't change my life but it's the life God gave me and I'm thankful for it everyday.I have a rainbow family ( multi-racial) and am proud of everyone in it regardless of their race.We are one color in Gods eyes and when we bleed we bleed red. My Grandmother told me when you make a marriage bed you lie in it, you take the good with the bad, make the most of it as marriage is for life. It takes two giving their all to make a marriage work.
