Susan's Story
After I left LAHS I sort of foundered in Junior College, got married, moved to the Central Valley, had three kids, got divorced and moved back up to the Bay Area. I've been here in Berkeley for the past 27+ years. Soon after I came back I met Eldridge Cleaver at a mutual birthday party and became his campaign manager. ant kids being made to grow up feeling dumb like I did) Been teaching for 22 years in Richmond, CA. Published a few magazine articles, but my book has been"in progress" for more than 10 years! Eldridge and I were married for 10 years until his crack addiction was too heavy. Very sad, but typical of all the Black Panthers. I am a grandmother now - Celestial Joy and Lumina Grace.
