Susan's Story
Life
Life became very different after leaving South High. I moved to Michigan to care for an ailing Aunt and ended up meeting my first husband. I spend the next 13 years just doing the housewife deal until my divorce in 1992. This is the year that I really grew-up as I had not advance myself in any area other than the typical clerical duties. I took a real right turn and decided to become a bartender, which I did for a year. It was the best therapy I could have gotten and it was free. I realized that my life wasn't so bad and I still had time to get it together! I started to work for a Temp Agency as a data entry operator and after six months of offering my suggestions for improvement I was given an application for employment. I felt truly blessed when I then realized I had been temping for a division of General Motors.
Eleven years later, I completed college and I am now living in the State of Maryland working as an Account Manager for a division of General Motors. The Lord has blessed me with a second chance at marriage, which is going on eight years. I do not have any children, however my life has not been childless. I was blessed with being involved with so many children of my family, I would say I have at least 16 children.
We've only been in Maryland since Oct. 2004, but we have grown to love this state. My husband and I both fish and this is the state for us with all the water...Expand for more
that is around us. This summer we plan on learning how to go crabbing.
I often think of my years at South High and all my fellow students that had an effect on my life and I pray that all I knew are healthy, happy and blessed. I pray the Lord continues to keep you all safe. I would love to hear from you.
UPDATE 02/16/11
2010 was an up and down year; the up included completing and graduating with my Masters Degree in Business Admin. The ceremony was spectacular; I think so because it took place in Washington DC; a very surreal experience. I drove to Michigan in July where I had a large family graduation party; family came in from Ohio and Illnois and in my style we partied until 4:00 a.m.
The down of the year was being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in August, I had surgery in September and what should have been a routine procedure didn't turn out that way and I suffered with complications until mid December. Through the Grace of God I ended the year on a high as I was told on Christmas Eve that I was cancer free...God is Good!! I'm back to work full force, I tend to get tired a little bit but I've learned to slow down and enjoy my life; where has all the years gone; it seems like I just blink and wham I'm now 53; how the heck did that happen!!! I pray all you are healthy and happy, I pray the Lord continues to watch over all of you. God Bless You All.
