Susan's Story
Hi- It has been a long time since Hauppauge. Can't say it was all good- little hippie girl in a very conservative school. I remember the very first Earth Day- me, Mr. Lupone and maybe 3 others showed up-Very sad. Pep Rallies were the thing to do in Hauppauge while the world raged around us. I worked with my Mom for George McGovern and lost faith in politics when this country chose Nixon even after Watergate. Thank God for the Art rooms and Mr. Albert- I never would have survived. Graduated a year early after doubling up and skipping lunch, gym at night- took bowling Ha Ha. Wanted to be a nurse but was not a good performer on SATs or in Chem and Math. Ended up at SVA in the city, became an art teacher but never found a job, like it is now for teachers. SO designed gravestones for a monument dealer and found that I was a pretty good counselor. lled in separate car accidents. This experience with grief recovery inspired me to go to graduate school and become an Art Therapist and bereavement counselor. I am also a Child Life specialist and work part time at 2 Nassau County Hospitals. I love the work with medically ill children and am grateful to have found work in hospitals without being a nurse- my math would have hurt somebody. I have been married to Patrick for 32 years and have 2 children- my daughter Caitlyn went to FIT and is a designer/Tailor- she has her own shop in Sayville and can make or repair anything. It is called By A Thread. My son Jesse is in the Coast Guard and recently married and is being transferred to a ship in Jacksonville Fla. I am having a very good life and I am happy. I hope you all are doing well too. Facing 60 soon aren't we? How the hell did that happen so fast? I am on facebook Be well and love your people.
