Susan's Story
Life
Despite my lack of attention and resulting bad (aka failing) math marks, I have worked for the past 17 years as a Book Keeper/Network Supervisor for a small manufacturing company in Toronto. Prior to this job I did accounting and IT at two other places.
Married Gord Roddick in 1990, at Black Creek Pioneer Village, after meeting and dating at Keiller Mackay and living together for a number of years. Many may not remember Gord, as there were no pictures and no mention of him in any of the yearbooks! All totalled we have been together over 30 years and people said it would never work! I was loud and he was a person of few words, but we definately bring out the best in each other. We have lived in Oakville for the past 19 years. No kids ... don't like 'em, but we do share our house with Vicky, a Lab/Newf cross that we adopted from the Hamilton Humane Society on the May 24, 2004 weekend (hence her name) and two cats, Scooter and Grey C. Prior to Vicky, we had a beautiful Afghan Hound named Alex for 14 years. Enjoy horse back riding and hope one day to move out to the country and buy a place that could accomodate a horse or two of our own.
My parents continued to live in the same apartment at Kipling and Dixon until my Dad's retirement and then they too moved to Oakville. My sister, who attended Kipling instead of Keiller (poor girl) and her family also live in Oakville.
Both Gord and I enjoy reading and one of my favourite past times during the winter is cuddling up in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea, the three furry critt...Expand for more
ers and a good book. During the other seasons it's the same basic senerio except sitting out on the deck with a cold drink, only the dog (as the cats are indoor only cats) and a good book.
Definately like winter better than summer, as I don't like the heat and hate the humidity. My favourite season has to be the fall, love the cool temps, the colours and the clothes!
We have a 2004 black PT Cruiser and 1970 bright yellow Dodge Challenger with a big block 440 engine, same type of car that Gord drove in high school! We commute into Toronto together daily with Gord dropping me off and heading off to his job at the LCBO Head Office as a Systems Anylist.
We have travelled a bit, seen most of Canada including the Yukon, the Rockies, the Maritimes and most of the country in between! Have also visited Alaska, Florida, Vegas and other places in The States. Been to Barbados (a number of times) and The UK. Still have many, many places on our "want to see list"!
I managed to finally quit smoking a number of years ago, just before the government cut taxes and cigerette prices dropped. My luck, quit because of the money not my health and then the prices drop! But I have stayed off the butts! Gord is still smoking but who knows ... maybe he'll quit some day too! Nothing worse than a reformed anything so I really try not get on his case about it as he is a considerate smoker and doesn't smoke in the house or the car.
Guess that's all. I am happy with how my life is going and look forward to more adventures and new experiences as time goes on!
