To become aware of the possibility of the search is to be onto something. Not to be onto something is to be in despair.” ― Walker Percy “Small disconnected facts, if you take note of them, have a way of becoming connected.” ― Walker Percy, The Thanatos Syndrome “For the world is broken, sundered, busted down the middle, self ripped from self and man pasted back together as mythical monster, half angel, half beast, but no man...Some day a man will walk into my office as a ghost or beast or ghost-beast and walk out as a man, which is to say sovereign wanderer, lordly exile, worker and waiter and watcher.” ― Walker Percy, Love in the Ruins: A Novel "It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. o one or the other of these destinations. It is in the light of these overwhelming possibilities, it is with the awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all of our dealings with one another, all friendships, all loves, all play, all politics. There are no ordinary people. You have neve talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations - these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit - immortal horrors or everlasting splendors." - C.S. Lewis, "The Weight of Glory"". More about Susan:"Wife, mom, & adjunct church history/spiritual theology/religious studies professor at Carthage College and Mount Mary College. Also occasionally a guest preacher/worship leader at West Granville and Stony Hills. Starting to apply for Fall 2013 academic positions across the country. Enjoying 12th year of marriage to a fanatical fisherman / aerospace program manager wunderkind & nurturing our beautiful, spunky and joyful 7-year-old, Sarah. Grew up as a military dependent (USAF) in Alabama, Germany, Spain, California and then Ohio. Eternal academic - wide interests - always wanted to study music, but also thought about law school, Army ROTC, diplomatic corps, translation, ethnomusicology, and almost switched my major to economics my freshman year after taking a Human Needs & Global Resources course - my advisor wisely encouraged me to wait until I took my first econ class - I barely passed - so I stayed a music major as an undergrad; going on to earn a MA in French translation; an M.Div.; and graduated with my Ph.D. in Historical Theology/Religious Studies in May 2012! On the Meyers-Briggs, I'm an Introvert-Intuitive-Feeling-Perceiver (INFP). I can't live without music, good books, movies, and computer games!".
