Susan's Story
Hello to my classmates of 1966! Can't believe it has been 50 years since we graduated. I married John Trainor in "67". We were married 30+ years before he passed away in 1997. He was an elementary/middle school teacher. We adopted a baby boy in 1977 - The light of our lives. In 1999 I married Gerald Ross. We have 4 children and 10 grandchildren between the two of us. I have been retired since 2010 and Gerald is still working as he is 9 years my junior. We are very content here in the little town of Sugar City. I thought I would never get used to small town life and still miss the mountains in Co Spgs sometimes. Some say they can see Pikes Peak from here on a clear day, but I will never get used to looking at it from a distance. It was a real shock adjusting to small town life in 1974. The whole town rolled the sidewalks up at 6;00! However, there was a little café/Laundromat that served...Expand for more
great hamburgers after 5;00.. No theaters, convenience stores, NOTHING! Almost went nuts, but I adjusted. Gerald is a Respiratory Therapist at the hospital in LaJunta. We have four dogs. We love them dearly and they bring us a lot of joy. We are going on a cruise to the Bahamas on May 25. In anticipation of the event , I ordered nearly everything they offer for seasickness! We are looking forward to this since we don't travel much. Who can afford to board 4 dogs? Plus the kids say we vegetate and I guess we do, but we are happy doing it. As for me, I have done a little of everything- Preschool teacher, Pharmacy tech, dental assistant, and caregiver. My favorite is retirement. I guess this is my story. I mean how do you sum up 50 years and even more how do you remember them! I don't even feel 68 years old inside, but sometimes my body tries to tell me different. God Bless You All.
