Susan's Story
Life
My name when I went to Grammer School through High School was Susan Detmer. All of my Grammer School through High School years I attended schools in San Francisco, California. I moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1969. I married Charles Detmer in 1969 and went to college under the name Susan Detmer until I graduated from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado with a degree in biology in 1985. My minor was in psychology. Prior to that I attended Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado for an Associates Degree. I worked for the Office of Hearing and Appeals, part of the Social Security Admiistration for many years and then retired just two years ago. I lived in Sonora, California for several years on a ranch. I have one son, John, who is 30 and two grandchildren, a boy named Jack and a girl named Noa. I have been married now for just under 34 years. I would love to hear from any...Expand for more
one and everyone who I came in contact with. I really enjoy people and enjoy hearing how their lives turned out and what they are doing now. I now lived in Golden, Colorado very near the mountains. Golden, Colorado is the location of the Coors Brewery. It is a small town, but about half way between Denver and Boulder, Colorado.
Workplace
Last year for the first time since being retired (about three - four years now - I went to work at Barnes and Noble Bookstore for the Christmas season. I had a blast. What fun. Now both my husband and I are working part time for a small independent toy store that has only been in business for about seven weeks. We helped to actually set it up and now work part time, selling, stocking, and everything else that needs to be done in a small store. It is so much fun. Just the right mix of a job and still have time to be retired and do fun things, like traveling.
