Susan's Story

My husband, Dennis Giordano passed away on May 2, 2011. He had jmany fond memories of West Orange. We took a ":field trip" to West Orange last year checking out his home on Cobane Terrace and Roosevelt school, stopping at the diner, then Eagle Rock park and other familiar places. The funeral was at Dangler's and Our Lady of Lourdes. We had moved around quite a bit in NJ but also lived in RI and WV, but West Orange was always "home" for Dennis. Thank you to Richard Cohen, Roger and Roseanne (Pampalone) Dolan, Ned Steiner, Bill Brody and John Fox for sharing memories. Susan (Sue) Giordano Life, my spouse, Dennis Giordano, WOHS'63 June 30th 2006===I have retired! I don't know for sure what I'll be doing in my retirement, but I will be seeing a lot more of my granddaughter in WV. We will divide our time between NJ (Ocean County) and WV. (I am a special education teacher currently assigned as an in-class support teacher in a fifth grade class. I worked with preschoolers with disabilities for many years. es and sitting in little furniture with recent college graduates with energy!) My family: Followed my husband, teacher union leader to WV to RI and back home to NJ. Dennis recently retired from being a high school principal in Elizabeth. Adult children: Our son, Greg, is married to Jessica and he returned to WV to live and now has a daughter, our first grandchild. Daughter Nicole is single and is a teacher of dance at EHS. My husband's (Dennis Giordano, WOHS,'63) details are mixed in my profile. Our son and his family returned to NJ with a job promotion, so we no longer live part-time in WV. Dennis is unable to chat with his classmates online due to Alzheimer's, so I share his contacts with him, which he enjoys. We are moving back to north Jersey next week,9/11/08 to be closer to family and friends. Computer will be down for a few days, but eventually we will be back to chat with old friends from Wayne (and West Orange.) Our daughter is now married and our son and daughter-in-law will present us with our 2nd grandchild in October.

There was a time when I would have loved a brick cottage with gardens.
