Susan's Story
Life
I am now 40 and loving life. I married at 18 and immediately started a family. After 14 years of a very emotionally unstable marriage it was time to move forward. I started on a long and hard journey to find myself. I didnt know what was going to happen or if I would succeed, but i gave it my all. I left my marriage in May of 1999 with my 4 sons at the time. Jeremy 4, Travis 8, Sean 11, and Chris 13. It was hardest on Chris and Sean because they thought everything was fine between their dad and I. I tried to pretend for all those years that we had a perfect marriage.
I moved into Salishan in June of 1999. My first apartment by myself ever. I was 33 years old and starting out on my own. I began working as a waitress at Moms Restaurant. I started my own cleaning service, Carmichael's Cleaning. One of my accounts was the apartment complex I was living at. I work a lot to provide for my boys. In October of 2001, the owner of Salishan asked me to work for Demmon Partners as their full time in house cleaner. I decided to do so. I always did janitorial from a young age with my parents and I always loved office work. I began leasing apartments part time. So now I was Cleaning apartments and Leasing apartments. s off. The kids would go with their dad on the weekends, so that was my time.
After about 6 months of Leasing part-time, I decided office work was for me and decided to go full time leasing. In 2003, I began being trained in the bookkeeping field. I loved it. I found my place. In June of 2004 I transferred to Rocklin Ranch Apartments as Full Time Bookkeeper. In February of 2006 I was promoted to Manager. I love my career. I have an awesome team. I manage 356 Apartments in Rocklin California. I have a Bookkeeper, 3 leasing agents and 4 maintenance workers that I manage. There isnt a day that goes by that I am not thankful for my life. Chris now 20 lives on his own and does Drywall, Sean now 18 works at McDonalds and is going into the Air Force, Travis now 15 is a sophmore in high school and attends Mesa Verde High, he loves his mom, plays football. Jeremy now 11 is in 6th grade and attends Carriage Elementary, he is an awesome student and wonderful son, he plays soccer.
I remarried in May of 2004. It has been a struggle. We are now seperated and once again I am finding my own way. I enjoy every day, and do the best I can.
I often think about Lincoln High School. There are so many great memories there. I miss my best friends Marty and Becky. This is the main reason for joining classmates. I want to reconnect with them.
