Susan's Story
After high school I attended Ohio University and Univ. of Kentucky, where I majored in English. I then married my high school sweetheart, Dan Owens, whom I had met after my sophomore year in high school at a summer journalism workshop at OU. In 1969 we had a daughter, who is married to a great guy and the mom of my thirteen-year-old grandson, Ben.
I spent most of my married life in Pittsburgh, where I owned a computer consulting firm from 1982 until 2003. That year, Dan died of pancreatic cancer. We'd been married 37 years. In 2006 I met a man on the Internet, a widower who'd lost his wife in 1995 after 35 years of marriage. After a whirlwind romance--my husband, David, lived in California so the logistics were quite a challenge--we married in 2007. (I'm still Owens - enough name changes for one lifetime. David tells people he kept his last name when we married.)
We now work in the personal history business together--he scans and restores old photos; I do the interviewing and writing; we share the research.In 2010 we purchased a used motor home and explored the U.S. and Canada. These days we stick close to home, hoping someday to visit England and France.
