Susan's Story
Life
Moving the middle of my Junior year from Alexandria to Savannah was really difficult. I missed being at Fort Hunt and missed everyone. My heart is still with Fort Hunt and everyone there. Having experienced two high schools, I can honestly say that Fort Hunt was an excellent school and offered something for everyone. After high school I went to Georgia Southern University where I learned to party with the KA's and Sigma Chi's. Deciding that I needed to study more, I went back home to Savannah and transfered to Armstrong State College. There I realized that I liked going to the beach more than class. So much for studying more! Moved to Ft. Lauderdale during the summers to work as a day camp counselor and party REAL hard. Most of those three summers are a total blurr, but I had a great tan. ter two years with Hickory Farms of Ohio, overseeing 10 stores in Georgia and Alabama, I decided to go back to school to finish the Social Work degree that I had started. Working two full time jobs while attending school, I finally graduated with a BS in Social Work and a minor in Industrial Pyschology from the University of Alabama in 1981. Somewhere in there I worked at Callaway Gardens and taught water skiing and was one of their "show skiiers." That was a blast! Finally settled down in Savannah, GA in 1984 and started my family. Now I am working for myself so I can be a "stay at home mom." I volunteer a lot in the community and for pay, I oversee operations for sporting events that venture into the Savannah area and help with special events for area corporations. The biggest highlight of my life was being selected, because of my volunteer work in the community, as a "Torch Runner" for the 1996 Olympic Games.
