Susan's Story
Life
Live (and work) on a horse ranch in rural Southern California. Ranch mates include one husband, four dogs and way too many horses (if that is possible). We have one grown son, a paramedic, but no grand kids, yet. Up with the chickens, taking care of the horses and the ranch. A comfortable pair of boots, clean breeches to wear and a good horse to ride and I am a happy girl.
Horses, family, friends and riding (not necessarily in that order) are my life. The ranch is a long term dream for me. About ten years ago I ended up under a horse and got pretty banged up. It pretty much ended my time in the show ring but I never lost my determination to ride again. I was a long time in the hospital and spent that time mapping out out my dream ranch. It took a few years to convince my husband that we should sell everything and build a ranch. Over five years ago we started Rocking...Expand for more
Chair Ranch and have never looked back.
If I am not on the back of a horse, I can mostly be found in the barn or on a tractor. A big Saturday night at RCR is watching the sun set over the ranch with my husband.
I have a group of girls (the girls like me, are well on the down side of 50) that I trail ride with. There are still big open spaces out here. You can ride for miles and never see anyone, just rattle snakes and an occasional mountain lion. Life in the fast lane, it's not. For me, life just does not get any better than this.
Regarding the picture, the good looking one is Taipan, one of my favorite horses. The other one is me.
My life is so different (and fuller) than I would have ever expected. Would enjoy hearing from anyone that remembers me from high school. Let me know that about your life after Plant. Can't promise to answer promptly but I will answer.
