Susan's Story
Isn't it amazing how Life's twists and turns takes you to unexpected places with memorable events? It's difficult to believe that so many years have really passed since we moved the tassel on our graduation caps to the other side as we crossed that momentous threshold of our lives. Regardless, here I am with 5 children and 17 grandchildren, living near Salt Lake City, Utah, and married to my sweetheart.
While I didn't sing with any of the SLZHS choirs, I have been doing a lot of singing over the past 35 years. I returned in May 2007 from a singing tour in Italy. What an experience it was to concertize in Rome, Venice, Florence, and Milan, as well as sing mass at St. Peter's Cathedral at the Vatican in Rome and at the Duomo in Milan. Talk about memorable. Currently, I sing with the Utah Symphony Chorus, which performs with the Utah Symphony 3-4 times each year in Salt Lake City.

cted a working career, but got one anyway--in the accounting field (yes, I'm a bean counter!). But, one of the perks for me: I get to work in Park City, Utah -- the heart of ski country! Do I ski? Not anymore! Now, I relax as I watch others propel themselves down the mountainsides at break-neck speeds in the frigid air from the comfort of an outdoor deck with a cup of hot chocolate in my hands.
My only son, Matthew, passed away January 15, 2013 at age 42. He was the Sr. IT Architect for IBM, had just been published, had made several trips to China for IBM setting up a new project there (he spoke Mandarin Chinese), and a concept developed by he and two fellow-"IBMers" was patented by IBM just 5 years ago. He left behind his sweet wife and five children, the oldest having just been married in November 2012. I miss him terribly!
It's been a long time....I'd love to catch up with some of you.
