Susan's Story

I'm like a cat with nine lives...moved to Oregon two days after graduation, married, had my son in 1981, and lived in Oregon for 24 years...truly a huge chapter in my life. Besides my son, I also showed and trained horses, especially my own - my beautiful half Arab Daandi, and my AQHA sorrel, Buster. Those were great years. Moved to the Portland area in 1984 and stayed til almost 2000; no more horses (waaa); but raised my son and made some great friends. Then to the beautiful Monterey Peninsula in Dec. 1999; lived in Pacific Grove and had some very happy years there. Opened my own specialty store and was very active in ...Expand for more
domestic rabbit rescue. In 2005, I was again on my own and lived in Monterey for another three years which I loved. Working at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in Moss Landing changed my life. I had the skills, but working in that amazing facility with top scientists and engineers, right on the beach, awoke in me an awareness of the ocean that I will never lose. Moved to the south SF peninsula to be closer to family - now I'm in Redwood City and working in a very cool old building. I am still an animal welfare advocate, I love my bunnies, am nuts about wildlife, and I love my new husband and my amazing son!
