Susan Allbritton:

CLASS OF 1965
Mabelvale, AR

Susan's Story

In the class of '65, I was the other redhead. (My hair is still red--it's my revenge for all those "I'd rather be dead than red on the head." taunts.) I sang in Girls' Chorus, was a member of NHS, Beta Club, and French Club. I graduated from LRU, Class of '69--another " last class of" distinction. On June 8, 1969, I married my best friend , Dan Allbritton. He can still remember playing in my sandbox when we were four years old. We are the parents of 3 wonderful sons--Benjamin, Daniel, and Matthew--who are married to Moira, Julie, and Toni. They have given us 9 grandchildren(3girls and 6 boys). Dan and I moved to the Congo community in rural Saline County with our sons in 1986. Dan worked for the Post Office in Little Rock, and I pursued and enjoyed a wonderful career teaching: 1st--PCSSD for 13 years. My last assignment there was as an ALPHA (gifted and talented) teacher where I traveled to different schools. 2nd--In 1988 I moved to Bryant School District and retired from Bryant Middle School. I taught English (I hope Miss West would be pleased.) and History (My hero was Mr. Harold O. Brown. Beverly, ...Expand for more
do you remember?). I retired in 2005 after 31 years in the classroom. I love seeing my former students and hope that I made at least a small difference in their lives. They certainly all made one in mine. Since Dan and I retired, a new chapter began in our lives. We stay busy (How did we ever find time to work?) working in our church--Fellowship Bible Church--and just staying on the go. We have to check in with the dog daily so that she will remember who we are. I wish we could attend the MHS reunion in September, but it looks like we will be flying out to San Diego to keep our eldest son's children while our daughter-in-law flies to Singapore to meet him . He has command of the USS Gridley (a destroyer) and will be leaving that ship for a shore billet. Moira is ecstatic. His ship leaves on deployment again in August. God bless our people in uniform! I am so happy to find a place to locate former classmates. I wish that we could put together a class of '65 reunion before we get to old. My husband graduated from Central in 1965, and his class has monthly luncheons. It is great fun to talk to folks.
