Susie's Story

Life I am living in The Woodlands, Texas for the last 19 years, and married to husband #3, for the same amount of time. I teach Classical Russian Ballet for The Woodlands Civic Ballet (website)and still perform, as well as Performing Arts (dancing, singing, acting, stagecraft)at the second largest YMCA(S. Montgomery County) in the nation (2 campuses). Between the 2 activities, I teach almost 300 kids each week. I have never had chldren of my own, and never had the courage for a career as a professional entertainer, so these activities fulfill my heart's desire. This Christmas I will be in "Nutcracker" performances #87-90. Performing Arts kids are working on three seperate performances of "The Sound of Music." In the Spring, we tackle "Hairspray" and "Peter Pan" for the little ones. I graduated in '67 from Caznovia College, with a degree in Fashion. Continued at Syracuse Univ. in Avertising. I've been a Fashion Buyer, Fashion Coordinator, Advertising Sales Exec. VP of Advertising and VP of Sales Training & Recruiting(nat'l companies). After tiring of the travel, I became an Executive Search Consultant (Headhunter) for the nation's largest firm, but left and started my own search firm. All was successful and lucrative, but not as fulfilling or enjoyable as what I do now. (It took counseling to make the change.) The Woodlands, and my home are awesome. I sing and dance with kids all day, 6 days a week, and make a difference, but not a lot of money. My husband's boys are FINALLY on their own, and I did not like the role of stepmother. Right now I'm feeling great and feeling happy, fulfilled, and very young for my age. My 40's saw some bad health and some major surgeries, but it all worked and I'm enjoying feeling well. The reality check is looking in the mirror. Who IS that old lookig woman? Working with children reminds me daily of Syracuse, and all of you. Even the w...Expand for more
eather today,"Lake Effect Snow" for you guys, and 80 degrees and sunny here. Husband #1, 73-78 drove me to seek new horizons in Albany/Saratoga area. After Husband #2, I took a promotion to Texas.(1985) The Houston area has more theatre seats filled every night than any other city in the world, except London, and NYC. Everything is new, clean, safe, and friendly, and harmoniously diverse. I sometimes take class with the world class Houston Ballet, or audition for local "Theatre Under the Stars" (website). The weather is sub tropical, much like Miami. My father has been deceased for quite a while. We moved my Mom to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to be walking distance from my sister and very near her adult grandchildren. She passed a few years ago, but not before meeting her first great grandchild. I have been up to Lake George a few years ago, and to NYC once every summer for a teachers' conference, but not "home" in years. Fourth of July week, my entire family gathers at the same beach house in Topsail Island Beach, on the outer banks of NC. Thanksgivings in Chapel Hill with my extended family. My husband, Bert, is still working full time, and he is a ranked, Sr. Amateur golfer. My home life is always full of dogs, cats, old movies, reality TV shows, and SHOPPING !!! The shopping is world class here, although I can't do it very often. I am TRYING to save enough $$$ to return to Paris, or go to Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Moorea for my 60th birthday. I don't think I'll make it financially, and Bert would rather stay home and play in golf tournaments. So Ladies, andyone want to join me? I hope to hear from some of you. Life was simpler then, and the lines were more clearly defined. We all come from the same place and time, and music especially, puts me right back there. I'll try to add photos some time soon.
