Suyapa's Story

Life I have lived in the New Orleans area since 1970, on my return from working in a hospital in a Caribbean country. I met my ex-husband here and have 2 great daughters. One likes to travel, she's been to Europe, India, and Austrelia backpacking. She has just signed a contract with 5 Points Records as a singer and song writer. The other has a beautiful 5 yrs old son that I spoil totally. I have been back to Chicago, but the old neighborhoods are changed. I guess you can't go home again. Well, I'm adding this after Katrina. My house did not flood, but Katrina took a liking to my attic fan, which ended up 50 feet in front of my home on the sidewalk. So, I have a huge hole on my roof and lots of water in the house. d to study in biology, haha. My youngest daughter moved to Dallas when she heard that the 17th street levee had broken. She lived in a two story home 4 blocks from the levee. She lost everything on the first floor and the stuff on the second floor smells real bad. She also lost her Liberty Jeep. Now my grandson is 8 hours away and I miss him real bad. He is happy because his school was destroyed and he hated that school. He said, "Mama Sue, now I don't have to eat all my lunch and I don't have to taste vegetables." My eldest packed up and moved to Seattle. She got news that one of her songs was going to be on a CD. Well now I have to find an apartment for a couple to months while the house is fixed. Y'all are welcome to come after it's completed. We wouldn't have Thanksgiving or Christmas, but we may have Mardi Gras.
