Suzanne's Story
Some of us stay true to our character and values throughout our lives. The photo I've posted is of the Black Lives Matter leadership in Salem, Oregon on the steps of our state capitol (where I am a frequent organizer and guest at social justice actions.) I'm in the back row in a kerchief (practical fashion statement during pandemic.) seling and Educational Psychology, buried the love of my life and suffered the latest and most outrageous and devastating slander and abuse from my family of origin. By the grace of God, I survived, or as some of us say, I persisted. I am retired from the Oregon Department of Human Services and active in lay ministry and work with the Interfaith Movement For Immigrant Justice and other civil rights groups in my community.. It is doubtful that I will ever visit Germantown or Memphis again, but I look forward to seeing those whom I love on the other side. May the Peace of our Creator, whatever name you use for Creator, be with you all.
