Suzanne's Story
It's a gas re-connecting with classmates. It's the perfect time because we have 40 years of stories to share!
I'm still active in my career in the music business. I have a studio in Alhambra where I teach and run my non-profit "The Cabaret Institute For Kids". Before re-locating back to SoCal, I worked for 25 years on the East Coast, mostly in theatre: Broadway, Off-Broadway, Tours. I worked for Disney over a period of 16 of those years - EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and lastly - the Inaurgural of Disney Cruise Line out of Venice, Italy. Interspersed in there were 10 years working for the Cruise lines (mostly Carnival) as a "fly-on" entertainer for the on-board variety shows. I worked as the original "Annie" at "Wild Bill's" dinner attraction in Orlando for 10 years, as well (produced by Rank Leisure, USA, the parent company to the Buena Park venue. Both venues are now closed). In the mid-90's I recorded a CD with Canadian guitarist, Greg Rodman "So This Is Love", available on CD Baby and iTunes. I feel fortunate to have made a good living as a musician for all these years.
I returned to the west coast in 2000 to be near my folks. My mom passed in 2005. My dad is doi...Expand for more
ng very well and is still living in the home I grew up in in Hacienda Heights. My family life centers around being an Aunt to nieces and nephews and working with lots of kids in the studio. It's the best case scenario because when the fun is over, they get to go home (LOL). I met and married my husband at the Aspen Music Festival in '70. We moved to NY and built a home (which I consider right up there with having a child). Marriage was bliss; but, trying to coordinate home and career was difficult and ultimately we divorced. They say your friends are your family. I feel blessed with a big family of friends.
It's great to find so many classmates who have good lives, interesting careers and beautiful children. Thinking back, did you think we were such a special bunch? I think we were and are now. The up-side is that we are a generation where 60 is the new 40 - so there's a whole 'nother chapter of life to live. I think this chapter is the best one! What do you think?
Cheers!
Suzanne
I always wanted to be a singer when I grew up. My family and friends thought it wasn't a good way to earn a living. As it turns out, it was the best way for me. I'm glad I followed my heart.
