Suzy's Story
Life
Here it is in a Nutshell...
I grew up in Salt Lake City.
I graduated from East Highschool in 1982.
I graduated from Dixie Junior College in 1985, with an Associate Degree.
I graduated from Weber State College in 1989, with a B.S. in Elementary Education.
I also have a certificate in Paralegal Studies.
I really didn't know what I wanted to do with my life - I knew that I wanted a degree, which I got, but I didn't pick the field, it picked me.
The constant through out all of my schooling was my work at the University of Utah.
I started there in 1979 as a volunteer, at the hospital, contributing more than 1140 hours by the time I earned my highschool diploma. Later I was given a paid position.
When I moved to St. George, for college I was able to work a summer as a cook for a science program sponsered by the U. After graduation, I had plan to go to USU in Logan, to persue a degree in Food Service Management. I had a "summer" job working for Nutrition Care Service at the U Hospital. ars with my going from a steward to my current position as Clinical Manager.
I use the skills I learned in Education to deal with employees who have mental and physical disabilities. I use my paralegal skills when dealing with personelle problems and or legal issues.
I use my entire education to deal with patients, family memebers, employees, co-workers, management and administration.
In May of 2010 the Economy Problems hit hard, my position at the Hospital became a reducution in force and I all of a sudden found myself unemployed. Six months later I am once again back at the University using my paralegal training while working for Commuter Services as an Appeals Officer.. It has been a great experience in growth...and my joureny is still not over as I consider retraining.
I still live in Salt Lake in the home I grew up in, with my parents. It is unique but it works.
I have a great family.
I have a dog that is a cutey.
I have great friends.
What more could I, or should I want or need.
Life is what we make of it - LIVE LARGE!
