Well, I was a member of the Class of '65. I left Delray immediately after graduation and attended FAMU. I played in the marching band and became section leader of the trombone section. I graduated from there in 1969 with a BS degree in music education. My first teaching job was in Aiken, SC. I met my wife there and taught there for 3 years. I left there and went to Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I got a Masters degree in Music Education in one year. I taught in Chattanooga, TN for one year and moved to Hampton, VA. There I was Assistant Director of Bands and Lower Brass Instructor. After 4 years there, I went to Jefferson City, MO a...Expand for more
t Lincoln University as Director of Bands. While in MO, I completed a Ph.D. degree in Music Education. After four years in MO, I went back to Hampton University as Director of Bands. I remained there for 8 yrs.,then moved back to Ohio as Director of Bands at Ohio University in Athens, OH. I have been here for 13 years and am now the Associate Director of the School of Music.
I am still enjoying my career in music. I have played professionally all over the country behind such artists as, Ray Charles, Nancy Wilson, The Dells, The Four Tops, and many many more. I have toured the United States with different professional groups.
I am currently planning my retirement and hope to retire in five years. Hopefully, I will move back to my first love, "FLORIDA." I have lived all of my adult life in terrible weather. When I retire, I would like to fish, play and write music, and enjoy my family and friends.
Let me hear from some of my long lost friends from high school.
