Sylvia's Story

Life Very happily married for 35 years to Nick Brock (Class of '73). We have two children: Brandy Nichole, 34 & Andrew Aaron, 30. Nick and I live in Venus (southwest of Dallas) in the country. I work in Dallas, and Nick works in nearby Waxahachie. Our daughter, Brandy, is Coast Guard JAG, specializing in Environmental Law, stationed in New Orleans. (She was there since before Katrina.) She and Eddy have been married for almost 14 years. They now have their first child, a little boy we call Rusty because of the color of his hair (his legal name is Eddy III), born on 3/10/2009. He's adorable, and another reason to get up in the morning! I thank God for he and Cole every day! Our son, Andrew, lives in a neighboring town and is married to Kimberly. They have one child, Cole, who is 5 years old. Cole has been a beam of light in our lives since the day he was born! What an adorable, smart, sweet, little boy! We also have 6 indoor cats -- used to have 9, but 3 are now gone. or us! Besides Nick's and my family, my passion is prison ministry. I do volunteer work in North Texas (Dallas/Ft Worth area), with female family members of incarcerated men and women. This involves 2 night, 3 day weekend retreats. The purpose of this ministry is to support and help these ladies because they are doing time just as their loved ones are. I have seen miracles on these weekends! Anyone who wants to work a team should go online for more information on Kairos Outside. There is a chapter in Wichita Falls. There are organzations all over the world, so if you are interested we could use your help! Next year I plan to begin volunteering with Kairos Inside, which is a spiritual lifeline for those incarcerated (on the inside). Again, miracles happen on every weekend! There is also Bill Glass Ministries, which I am working towards (going into women's prisons). My now deceased dad, Keith, was very involved with Bill Glass Ministries. Volunteerism is the best thing in the world. It's true, the more you give the more you are blessed. I believe that I have told you just about everything there is to know about who I am today.
