Sylvia's Story
Life
My life has been changing alot the last few years-all four of our kids are over eighteen-have been busy moving in and out of the house randomly. Three of them are in college-the oldest, Andrea, is married and now has two beautiful children (Sascha 6 yrs and Katie 1 yr), Genevieve is a paralegal in Tacoma and headed to law school, and Emily and Spencer are both in college at Evergreen and living in the dorms. Terry Fain and I have been married something like 27 years-imagine that! I am still working as an RN in an Olympia hospital-I work in the neurosurgery unit. I do love my job although it is very demanding most all of the time. It is never boring and always challenging to my body and mind. We live outside of Rainier, WA. on 5 acres which is thick with old growth pines and a little lake which is all our own. From our front windows I can watch blue heron, canadian geese and an occasional eagle fly in for dinner. It is quite secluded-and I like it like that. Terry and I have been sailing for 27 years. We recently went to Greece ...Expand for more
and experienced the winds of Homer as we sailed all over the coast. It was a great experience-was like walking back 100 years in time. A few months ago we took three of our kids to Thailand for a month-Bangkok, then sailing for a few weeks towards Malaysia all around the southern Thailand coast. What an amazing experience! To travel and experience other cultures makes one realize that there are so many other ways to live full lives without so much regulation and control. We plan to travel yearly-our next trip if all goes as planned will be to Mexico and Guatemala on motorcyles! We are also buying some property in the San Felipe, Mexico area to play on-with the help of Dan Smith (went to Stadium). The only other passion I have is politics. Spencer was a delegate for Kucinich last year-and we cheered him on. We are a very active political family-and I will just say that it isn't in support of our current administration. Hope anyone that reads this and remembers me writes back. That is, if we still CAN remember! Take care and God Bless.
