Tamara's Story
I am currently a teacher at Tulsa Community College, and tutor in the West Campus Writing Center. TCC is where I began my career journey, so it's only fitting that I return to where I started.
After high school, I worked in various fast food places in Owasso, Tulsa, and Claremore. I also worked various positions at Thrifty Car Rental. I was never really happy with my employment until I became a licensed Pharmacy Tech at St. Francis Hospital. I moved to retail pharmacy at May's Drug Store, where I was inspired to go to college to become a pharmacist.
I went to TCC, received my AS in Biology, and moved to Oregon. When I tried to continue at OSU to become a pharmacist, I wasn't accepted. I discovered that if a transfer student didn't have a 4.0, then the liklihood of being accepted into the OSU Pharmacy College was nil. They want Oregonians to have OR jobs. So I changed my major a few times...Expand for more
until I discovered, or rediscovered, my passion for writing. I received my BA in English, with a minor in Creative Writing.
I am currently working on a nonfiction book, and 2 screenplays. And, though I'm no J.K. Rowling, I also have an idea for a series of novels rolling around in my head.
I've just been accepted to grad school, so I will be attending OSU from 1/09 until 5/11. I will then have an MFA in Creative Writing.
From the Story Wizard, I've answered a few odd questions.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Mark Burke, because I had a crush on him in HS.
If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to various family members, then spend the rest on my dream home, paying off my debts and my new luxury travel trailer for my vacation around the US, Canada, and S. America.
In 10 years, I hope to be a famous author. I'm going to get there by publishing my creations.
