Tammie's Story
Life
Since my days of Jello Wrestling and other crazy things, I have been married to a wonderful man named Michael for almost 13 years. We have two beautiful little girls that we adopted from Siberia Russia (Yes, we actually went there TWICE!) Our oldest daughter Lydia is 9 and Natalya who came home in June 2001, is now 6 1/2 years old. My husband runs a business called Mike's Hubcaps inc. We sell hubcaps, wheels, tires, etc... I have been busy continuing my community service through the PTA that I am involved with - at Manorhaven and Guggenheim Elementary Schools - where I am have been serving as a representative to the Parent Council, which oversees the town PTA's, planning special events, running Brownie Troop and Daisy Troops for both girls. I am now serving on the Board of trustees for a wonderful organization called Discover the Smile, which is an organization that works with area hospital to make them more approachable and bearable for children who need treatment. This is an amazing organization that if you read my bio and are interested in helping out, please contact me. I am going to be heading up the Girl Scouts for all of Port Washington this coming year, which should be a fantastic experience. Iam actually also on disability. I injured myself in 1993 from a slip and fall. I injured my left knee and this turned into a freak neurological disorder that you might have heard about on the news called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. This is a neurological disorder that causes your nerves to always fire the message that there is pain. Most people have it localized in their limb, but mine spread throughout my entire body. I have a morphine pump in my stomach and pain 24/7. This has made my life difficult but rewarding at the same time. You learn to look at things differently and appreciate things in a different way. If you remember me, I always do things all the way or nothing. I try to show my childeren that despite lie's hur...Expand for more
dles, you have to find positive outlets in your life. If anyone has family with RSD that needs someone to reach out to, I've been living with it for almost 13 years, so please feel free to have them contact me to find out treatment info or to just talk. On a different note, my children are the rest of my life. Lydia is just the most generous, loving, sweet young lady in the world. She wants to be a veterinarian when she growns up and has a heart of gold. Natalya is my wild child. She loves cars and trains, reads anything you put in front of her, can be as sweet as candy and as hot to trot as a wild bull. I worship the ground that both of my girls walk on and wish that you all have kids that make you as happy as mine make me. I have a wonderful husband that has been my best friend and so supportive of me during all of these years of struggle and challenge. I hope that you are all lucky enough to find your special partner in life to stand by you during all of your moments. If anyone wants help with info on adoption, please contact me. I have a wonderful agency named Cradle of Hope in Silver Spring Maryland. Their phone number is (301) 587-4400 - It is amazing how fast time ticks by. I think of many of you often and pray that your lives are as peaceful or as exciting as you dreamed them to be back when we were young and innocent kids ready to take on the world - as little people with Snoopy as our symbol at Stony Brook, at Copeland when Michael Jackson still had a face and Madonna wore cones and didn't feed them to her kids, in high school marching around the football field, wrestling in jell-o/pudding, or tossing around the latest gossip in school. Those were the days! I keep them close to my heart and hope that you do too! Maybe, we should jell-o wrestle at our 20th reunion? What do you think?
Take care of your self and be well. I will you and your families all of the happiness, good health, and peace in the world!
