Tammie's Story
Life
I am single. I have four wonderful children. I work full time as a security officer, and I go to college part time.
School
High school was not that great until I left home when I was 16. Then things got better. Although, I have always loved learning it just became difficult to focus when there were so many problems at home. I also didn't learn really anything in high school that I did not already know. It was quite boring.
College
I began in college studying photojournalism but canned that field for now. I would prefer to be either an overseas consultant or an investigative journalist, and neither would be safe. I have to think about my kids. So I went to a trade school and graduate in 2005 as a pharmacy technician. Now I am working on an associates degree in liberal arts.

Workplace
Well, I have mostly been married and in college off and on between moving, so I have not had a plethora of jobs. But for the last few years I have been doing security, government security in the last year. It really is interesting, and I am able to do homework during the last few hours of my shift because all I do at work during that time is, literally, stare out a window. It can require long hours many though. Nearly every night I am asked to work a 12 hour shift. I also did an externship in a couple of pharmacy for my pharmacy tech. license, which I enjoyed, but my security job pays so much more than a retail pharmacy. So I am trying to figure out a way to get a a year of retail pharmacy experience without compromising my financial stability and then apply for Kaiser Permanente.
