Tammy's Story

Hello everyone, Below is my story since graduation in June 1976 to September 2009. So go to the bathroom, get something to drink - you may be here awhile - LOL. Right after graduation (like 3 weeks later) I went to work for the FBI in Washington DC. Was there for the big Bicentennial celebration. Now that was one of the best times in my life! I met husband #1, 1976. We move to his home town (Metter, GA about an hour from Savannah). We had a daughter, Cindy, she is now 31 and leaves about 45 mins away from me. She and I have a mother/daughter weekend once a month. She is not married though living with a man who truly loves her and there are no children - so I'm not a grandma. Husband # 1 and I divorced in 1984. Met husband #2. We had a son, Alan, I'll continue his story in a min. Husband # 2 and I divorced in 1992 after moving to Buford, GA. Met husband #3 in 1993 and married in 1994. Now that was a mistake right from the get go. We divorced in July 1998. I have been single since. Now for the most God amazing time of my life from August 1998 to the present. Cindy, my daughter (yes - I named her after my sister), was already on her own at this time in 1998 and it was just my son Alan and I living at home. Alan had only been in a church a couple of times in his life and I was in great need for "something". So we started attending a small local church. There I gave my life over to Jesus in Sept. 1998. Then in March 1999 so did Alan and here is where life changed forever for so many. Alan loved the Lord and church - wanted to be there all the time. During school one day there was a visitor, a youth pastor from another church had come to speak to the children. Alan was in awe of the man and when he got home he said "Mom, I want us to go to Pastor Jeff's church". We started going to this church and Alan grew physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually into a great warrior in God's Army. He was part of many school and church activities. Played the saxophone from Middle School on into High School. Carried his Bible openly in school and prayed with kids that came to talk to him for advise and just came telling him their cares and problems. I saw God working in a mighty way in my son's life. I was truly able to look into my own son's eyes and see Jesus! I am so very blessed to be his mother and so h...Expand for more
onored God would allow me to be his mother and have the responsibility to raise and care for this man. Then October 18, 2004, just 3 weeks shy of turning 17, God took Alan home to Heaven by way of a car wreck. He was driving to the store to get things for supper (by himself). Went off the shoulder into the grass, over corrected, went into the other lane and was hit by a truck - He died instantly they say. Through Alan's death and by the life he lived - real for our Lord, not a phony - many people, young and old, gave their lives to Jesus. 53 of them just during the viewing and funeral alone. I've attached a picture of Alan in my photo album - it was taking in July 2004 at a church youth event, 3 months before his death. This picture is a true gift from God. It shows Alan's heart - who he truly was/is and this picture along with Alan's story/witness has been used to reach even more for Jesus. His story has even gone to the mission field, to Brazil, Honduras, Israel, and who knows where else by now. The Lord kept me strong and filled me with His peace, grace, mercy and love - allowing my experience to also draw others closer to Him. While raising Alan as a single mom, I was busy working with the teens at church, taking Alan to all the school events (games/band/concerts/competitions). We traveled and saw amazing places. Since 1998 and after Alan went "Home", I have been single - waiting on God. I realized I'm not that good at picking out a "keeper" - LOL. And after all these years He has sent me a wonderful man. He is a godly man, plays the drums in church, we are doing a Bible study together - it's just amazing and oh so wonderful. Our relationship is new so I'm trying to keep it real and not get swept up in the glow of new romance. I want this to work between us but only if it is God's will for us. Since 2004, I have taken up traveling. I go by myself and it has been great. Been to Alaska, Israel (Holy Land tour), New Zealand, and Australia. Next year, going to Venice, Italy for a Mediterranean Cruise - already looking forward to this trip. So now you are up to date on me. Are you still awake? Is your bottom numb from sitting so long? - LOL - Grins and Giggles. Oh by the way, my nickname is GG for Grins & Giggles - that's how people see me, all grins and giggles. Enjoy the day, Tammy
