Tammy's Story
Let's see. After graduation, I had my daughter, Connie. I moved to Texas in 1983, where I married. In 1987, my son Shayn was born. I've been living the single life since 1996. I now have 2 great kids, no grandchildren yet (unless you count the 4 furry 4-legged children my daughter has).
I still get back to Kokomo every now and then to see my parents, and the few relatives that are still around. Hoping to make it back for the 30th class reunion, if the invitation makes it to me and I'm able to get away from work for that time.
Currently work for a John Deere dealership, so spring and summer are our busiest seasons (normally). We have been in a drought the past couple of years, but 2010 has started out with plenty of moisture so far. Let's just hope it doesn't go the opposite of the spectrum and be too wet for planting and harvesting.
For a few years, I worked part time as a bartender in a local "honky-tonk". People who remember me from school might have a hard time believing that, as I was always the quiet person who never spoke unles...Expand for more
s spoken to first. I like to refer to myself as a wallflower back then. Very easily forgotten. I'm sure there are plenty of classmates who will pull out the dusty old yearbooks to refresh their memory of who I was then.
I currently work part time as well, but it's a fun job. I work with a local country music band. Well, primarily country anyway. They also do some old classic rock n roll (ZZ Top, Lynard Skynard, etc). I get paid to haul equipment around, set it up, check sound balance, drink a few beers, dance, occasionally get on-stage to play tamborine and a couple of other percussion instruments, then tear it all down and haul it home. The easiest 5-6 hours a night a person can have for a part time job. I just haven't been able to bring myself to actually put to use all those years spent in choir with Mr. Rose...yet.
The worst time of my life since moving to Texas was in June 2007. That is when I lost my "little" brother, Jeff. We lost him way too soon! When I look at his 3 sons, though, it's like looking him as a small kid again.
