Tammy's Story

Life WOW! My family IS my life! I am married with two children. Courtney Paige & Raymond McCallister "Cal". We live in Florida. Have been here since 1994. Lived in OC and PA prior to this. Get home to visit some, but not very often or for very long. My husband is a developer/architect/engineer. Just got a 2nd home in NC where he is starting a major devleopment. Have homeschooled my children since Kindergarten. Sometimes I love it; other times it just "Stinks"! It's kinda cool learning new things with them (I'm sure it's mostly things I learned in school myself and forgot--Oops!) Have been working with my husband since 1995 while homeschooling--quite the feat! But we have managed--sometimes better than others. (wink) With the new development and the all-too-quickly creeping up age (my blonde moments are starting to overlap with my senior moments-I'm screwed), I am retiring to strictly teach my not-so-little babies. Courtney is dedicated to the performing arts, while Cal is 100% ice hockey! They both water ski, wake board, wake skate on our lake here in Florida, and recently began rock climbing in NC. They both play piano, compose songs (Cal music; Courtney lyrics), snow ski, snow board, ice skate, etc. Cal plays drums, bass, and guitar. He was in a band that performed in clubs throughout the area, but had to bow out with our commuting between homes. Courtney was part of a travelling performance troupe and has done numerous productions with the a big theatre near us. They are both excellent students -- Of course, I'm doing the grading (ha! ha!), and plan to attend college in the all-too-near future. They're usually really good kids and we are defin...Expand for more
itely proud of them. The four of us spend most of our time together and we actually still like each other, so I guess something is working. Oh pets! Yeah! We've got a few of those. Our miniature Schnauzer is Gidget and approaching 10 yrs. old; she is our third child. We have a cockatiel named Chuck (he was already named when we bought him). He whistled at me in the store and I had to have him. That just doesn't happen anymore, you know? <grin> We have a 1 yr old Macaw names Jaco (after the famour bass player), which is like another child. I have to drive back and forth between FL and NC so the birds can travel with me. We have two Koi in our indoor pond. We had a small stingray in there also, but he died. We have a fish tank with rainbows, sharks, crayfish, etc. and two turtles. As you can tell, our life is not boring. If anything, it's CRAZY! But those of you who know me well, would expect nothing else. We love activities and love to have fun. But we also work very hard and try to help others as much as possible. In 2002, I chaired a group to start a Middle School program at our Catholic Church called the EDGE and the kids loved it. Once it got underway (we had 80 kids within one month), the Youth Minister took it over and it is still growing today. In 2004, we bought a Junior Hockey team and started a Youth Organization with that. Unfortunately, we were unable to hire and maintain competent staff to keep that running and have had to dissolve that Non-profit corporation. Of course, in commuting between locations now, it is all for the best. Amazing how things work out, huh? Anyway, we wish everyone love, health and happiness! Blessings!
