Tana's Story

After reading my latest entry on here, I decided I should do what I said I would, which is update "my life". My beautiful boy passed away from undiagnosed Juvenile Diabetes, or Type 1 diabetes. At the time of this update, April 25, he's been gone one week short of 6 months. Wow...hard to believe. My daughter, Jordyn, and I are making it through, but he's on our minds daily. Jordyn is a singer/songwriter here in Nashville, so that's been her outlet. I attend a monthly support group for other parents that have lost children, and that helps me, in addition to raising a teenage daughter. We're hoping to have some opportunities coming up soon that will allow us to spread the word about Juvenile Diabetes. Life goes on, as they say. It is what you make of it, and Taylor is proud that we're living it to the fullest, I'm sure. Love and Blessings to you all, Tana Life UPDATE: I wrote the following bio two years ago, and should have updated it before now, but it never crossed my mind. If I had done it prior to November 1, 2007, I would have said that my son is 21 and living in Nashville with a buddy of his and my daughter is 13 and in the 8th grade, with a few more additions. Unfortunately, we lost my son on November 1, 2007. He passed away in his sleep with what we believe was diabetes, but the medical examiner takes 10 - 14 weeks to complete the diagnosis. I will try to update this once we know. Please, love your children and every other special person in your life to the fullest. Don't put things off until later if you can do them today. Thankfully for us, Tay knew how much we loved him and he never failed to tell us the same. I can't say how many times I thanked God for my blessings, mainly that my kids were happy, healthy and all the oth...Expand for more
er wonderful things that they were. The swiftness of how that can change has still not sunk in, and I haven't learned yet how to deal with it. Don't ever take advantage of your good blessings. I have left the bio as it was, because it reminds me of my life before November 1, 2007. Hello! I'm living in Franklin, Tennessee, which is just a few miles South of Nashville. I moved here in March, 2005, from Santa Rosa. Prior to that, I had moved back and forth from Wyoming to Santa Rosa, the last time staying in Santa Rosa from 1994 until 2005. I worked at OCLI for 8 years, which was the reason for my frustrations and the need to move out of California. I met some great people there that I still keep in touch with, but the company really went downhill after it was bought out by the big boys. I have a 19-year-old son, Taylor, and a 12-year-old daughter, Jordyn. They're both great kids and give me very little trouble....luckily, they didn't take after their mom!! I work part-time right now so that I can keep up with my daughter's schedule. She's an up and coming country-music singer that keeps me pretty busy with her schedule. She has a website, if you're interested, which is her full name, Jordyn Shellhart....They don't allow me to post it on here. My son will be moving into his own apartment in September, 2006, and we're all excited for him. He's a great kid and all, but he needs to have his own space. I'm still single, but wouldn't mind having somebody in my life again, someday. Right now, it would be difficult because so much of my time is spent traveling with my daughter. Maybe someday..... I think it would be great to be back in touch with some of my old classmates, so please send a little note and I'll do the same. Take Care!!
