Tanya's Story
Well hello friends from long ago. Having just discovered (years after everyone else) that you can reconnect with very old friends via this site, decided to give it a go. Heidelberg folks may remember me as that very shy, VERY naive Canadian girl, who, I believe, wore red knee-highs to school every day for about three years! I am fairly certain people at Glebe in Ottawa will not have even noticed - having just returned from Germany, I was awkward and scared and I don't think I talked alot.
Let's see.... how do you sum up almost 30 years of life in 20,000 characters. Well let's just say that I've lived from one coast of Canada to another, and spent summers hiking in the Arctic Circle. Did university and got a degree in physical geography and geology so that I could be paid to play in the dirt. My career has evolved from doing environmental assessment work to being involved in communications. I've travelled through Central and South America, danced salsa in Costa Rica, vomitted on the Inca Trail in Peru, and got bit by a monkey in Grenada. oured Cambodia and Vietnam. Drank the world's best coffee in Hanoi. Have even been to the States, many, many times! Hiked through Utah, got lost in Canyonlands and thought I'd die but fell in love with the American South West. Love the smell of the desert. When not travelling or working, I am either drinking coffee with friends, out enjoying the open air or planning my next trek. Have become a bit of a jock in my old age -I'm a runner, kayaker, cyclist, and camper. I live in a gorgeous home here on the West Coast, with a view of the ocean (if you lean out my living room window in just the right way). I sponsor several children, but have none of my own. Never married..... couldn't find a man adventurous enough and now none of them have their own teeth! Will be going to France in the fall of 2010 to do a marathon. And if you ever decide you want to see British Columbia, I have ample room to put you up. I hope all has unfolded well for you and that you are happy and healthy and that you laugh lots. I know that may be West Coast airy-fairy, but I really do hope all is good with you.
