Ted's Story
Strange list of questions, but O.K. ...I'll go along.....
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have space, choice, and order to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
Give me old movies any day... they had faces then.
Who inspired me?... Thomas Jefferson, Robert E. Lee, and Theodore Roosevelt.
If I won $100 million?... I'd give a large portion of it to charitable causes, then spend the rest on family, travle, and a nice 1920's tudor-norman style house with a nice library located somewhere nice and quiet.
My best friend would tell you... I'm a pretty nice guy and a die-hard romantic but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as very serious sort. Many remember me as a sort of "revolutionary" type (at best) or while others in less kinder terms... they're usualy the people who listened to gosip and didn't bother with facts, but sadly... such is human nature.
What to wear?... black on black or just good old blue-jeans and a T-shirt, and (on rare occasions) ritual robes... but I still can be found now and then in olive-drab and camo (as situation or the times may dictate).
Acomplishments? No trophies in the usual sense of the word, but I do keep a video copy (personal souvenir) of the protest I helped to organize in 1994 that basicly ran Sarah Brady out of Ohio... something I'm very proud to have played a part in. I have been in and out of American grass-root and conservative underground politics over the many passing years and still continue to support those causes when I'm needed. Ever come across postings by T.J. DAVIS on AOL news opinion-posting sites (or else-where on the net)? That would be me. I also did a lot of oil painting and the like for about a decade or so (the 80's). I like to call those the "Green Cottage" years. Had a lot of fun at that place and miss it dearly... as well as those who came and went through its door and sharing goods times that were had there over the passing years.
All in all... its been a long strange trip at times, and in reflection, life has had it...Expand for more
s good moments and its bad ones... with a little bitter-sweet along the way to keep it interesting... much the way many of your lives have no doubt gone as well (more sweet than bitter for all of you I do hope).
One thing I do very much miss, and that is not having a copy of the 1976 yearbook (our softmore year). I've blundered around the web-site looking for postings of old high-school photos, but most have not posted any. Hey... if I'm willing to post my ancient mug on here along with other photos of my dusty history thus far... come on guys (tsk... tsk... tsk...). Don't be shy... I'd like to know how you've all been and what you've done over the years.
Bottom line?... Word reached me over these recent years that there were a few out there wondering what ever happened to me (my main reason for posting on this site). I know there were even rumors of my death flying around over the years, but I am happy to report to you that I am alive, happy, and quite well as of this posting... I'm just a bit older and grayer (like everyone else). At the moment, I work in a very humble and obscure job at a museum (a very nice calm change for me). I do so much hope that life has been kind to the class of '78 over the years and that all of you out there are healthy, happy, and content in your personal lives. I also hope that somewhere along the way that, perhaps in some small way, that I may have left some of you with at least some small fond memory of me from those now distant school days. To those of our class that we have lost along the road of life, I pray for their return to God's kind embrace and that they have found peace. I shall remember them kindly. For the rest of the class ...you have all been in my thoughts and in my prayers over the passing decades. I do hope that perhaps, at some spare moment, that I may have been in yours as well. May God's kind blessings be with you and with your families always.
- With affectionate remembrances and
my best wishes to you and yours,
TED J. DAVIS
