Teren's Story
Life
After a parapetetic start, I seemed to have settled down now. I traveled to Europe twice; spent a month there both times (1977 and 1982). I also went to Hawaii twice, living on Maui for 3 months in 1978, and Oahu for 3 months in 1986.
I came to Florida in 1984, for what I thought would just be a little while, ended up loving the laid back lifestyle, and have stayed here to the present.
I married in 1986, with daughters born in 1991 and 1993. I was divorced in 1998, bought a beautiful 3/2 home on a corner lot in a "Beaver Cleaver" type sub-division called "Tiburon"! When I found my house on the corner of Marin Ave. and Sonoma Ct., I knew it was the right place for me.
I worked for 5 years at WOFL-TV, or 'FOX 35' as it is referred to here in the Orlando market. I started in Traffic, and ended up in Accounting, as the Credit manager. I left there in late 2002, when the parent Company, Meredith Corp., sold the station to Newscorp. In early 2003, I came to my present position, Payroll, at WESH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Orlando.
Life has been a journey, and I am still enjoying the ride!
College
The best thing I did while...Expand for more
going to FIDM was going on the European Study Tour in the spring of 1977. I balked at keeping a 'diary', but the memories that I catelogued there are worthy of a screenplay at the very least.
I remember working so hard as a a buyer's clerical after school, at J.W. Robinson's downtown "Wedding Cake Store", and studying into the night after I got off, only to get up before dawn to drive my old '67 Buick Special into the L.A. Freeway traffic to downtown. I learned to hold my keys in between each finger after I parked 6 or 7 blocks from the campus to thwart any would be attackers.
One time, my fellow classmate Carla B. and I snuck into her boyfriend's Phi Sigma Kappa Frat house at USC through the bathroom window after they won some special football game. She later introduced me to Ralph Burton, also a Phi Sig member, from CSULA, who was the best kisser I ever knew. The biggest mistake of my life was leaving LA to go back to northern CA to take part in a Mgmt. training program at Joseph Magnin. Looking back, I really should have taken the Accounting job that FIDM offered, and stayed with that great lover.
Oh well; hind sight is 20/20.
