Teresa's Story

I lived in Courtney,BC when I was the ages of 6 - 8 yrs old. I had 2 brothers, the oldest Stewart and second was Carl, and 2 older sisters named Suzanne and Christine. I had some traumatic things happen in my family then and I would like to see if anyone remembers any of us. We first lived near downtown and a few blocks from Courtney Elementary, I remember a park across the main Hwy and a little corner store beside it. I remember in school I was not very co-operative and there was a another girl named Teresa who's mother made her warm milk every day in a Thermos, well I thought it strange so I hit her. Not very nice! Next place where we lived was near Vanier just as it was being built, ( at the end of the street) it was a bige white house with an apple orchard, there was a row of 3 to 5 houses and all were on acreage with great sledding, I've looked at recent map and the street seems to be gone, any idea's? Our neighbor was my age, had piano lessons every morning and wasn't allowed to play or walk to school with me. The next place we lived was a big house with a small barn and a horse, down the street was a girl a yr. younger then me who's family ran a Slaughter House, she ran away with me one day to go fishing, we stopped at a little store on main road and bought candy. We got into a lot of trouble and I wasn't allowed to ride home with all the kids in the back of her fathers truck.so I ran away again, this time I took a bus home to a boys house who was my friend, he lived on a farm with lots of cats, he shared his TV dinner with me. The police and my sister on horse and my mum all seemed to find me at once, I got into trouble. The next place was back to town, a 6 plex and we lived on the end, it was summer time and a girl who I made friends with lived on the other end of the 6 plex. We went out at night to a house that had a big peach tree and a big St. Bernard Dog, we raided the peach tree and to...Expand for more
ok them back to her house and put them in the downstairs bathroom sink. I was very tall for my age so I always got odd looks when I went to swimming lessons at the pool near the bridge.. I was also friends with the girl who's parents owned the campsite on the edge of the Puntledge River, not far after turning off the bridge. I also remember a girl who sat with me one day for lunch, her parents ran the dairy farm just outside of town, At that school there was an elderly lady teacher who always gave out peppermint candies.. If anyone in Courtney has any school pictures of those years 1971-73 from any schools I would of gone to, I'm not sure of the names, but know Courtney Elementary, and one I remember was pretty new, up past the small church on the corner, that was grade 3 for me, I remember being in a portable and the school yard had an electric fence on one side. Please email me if you or you know anyone who would of known me or of any of my siblings. I have no pictures of those years so school pictures would really make my day! Thank you very much!!
