Teresa's Story

Life After graduating and marrying, Mike finished college in Springfield, Mo and then his last year in Chesapeake, VA. We then returned to Memphis and started a young married SS class. Once our boys were in school (at TBS) then I actually taught high school Spanish there. Was a bit strange to be teaching there instead of attending. I had some really great students. Would love to hear from some of you. During that time we felt that God would have us be missionaries. We started in that direction and God has allowedus to be missionaries in Mexico since 1990. We have 3 children, Jason (27) a computer tech in the states, Jeremy (24) graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2004, move to New York for a time and has been here helping us for the last year in the school and with the teens. Then Jessica (13) is busy with school, ministry and piano. Where did the years go? Seems like yesterday we were all walking through the halls of TBS or were at our 10 year reunion. During our time here we have been able to start 3 churches. We have seen many come to Christ and have their lives totally changed. Serving the Lord is truly rewarding! We count it a priveledge that He has allowed us to be a part of this ministry. This term Mike has also been the director of the Spanish Language Institute here (LAMTI). We have a small school where missionaries to Latin countries can come to study Spanish. Also, we have a day school for their children. That plus the church keeps us REALLY busy. e school up until this year when Jeremy gave me a nice break. I love teaching but needed a little time off. We are responsible to help new ones arriving to find housing, show them around and translate for them till they can pick up a little Spanish. Because I am missionary kid I have a real burden for missionary children. So Jessica and I plan activities for the little ones and the teens that live anywhere within 2 hours of here. Sometimes they just need to get together "in English". They form a real bond as they understand each other so much. We do plan a short furlough the end of July-middle of Nov. 2006 so maybe some of our paths will cross. Would love to have a 30 year reunion. Anyone interested? I had good intentions of getting one organized last fall but then we found out we had to move. We haven't slowed down since. But maybe we could plan a dinner or something. Some suggested we have it around Gatlinburg but really guess we need to see where the majority live. If any of you have contacts for the ones in our class or teachers that would be great. Sonia Johnson and I have been talking and thinking we could do a reunion like the 10 year one and include the junior class also. Ideas???? Sin will take you futher than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay and cost you more than you want to pay so STAY in the WORD. There is safety in the shadow of the ALMIGHTY!! And remember a man is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.
