Teresa's Story
Most people probably remember me as a highschool party girl, which I can't deny.Because of that,I probably DON'T remember most of you! But I had fun, and I wouldn't trade all the memories I DO have for anything! Me, Debbie Williams, Karen Wald, and Laura Hooley still sit around and laugh about the crazy stuff we used to do.
After high school, I started having kids and made a career out of it,LOL! I have a 29 year old son, a 19 year old son, a 15 year old daughter, and a 10 year old son. WELL...at least I found something I was good at!
After working as a bookkeeper for 20 years in various cities (Statesboro, Waynesboro, Jacksonville FL, Brunswick, and back to Statesboro), I decided to go back to college and get a computer degree. After all, high school was just a big party and now that I was FINALLY grown up, I thought I might could actually learn something. And what do ya know? I graduated at the top of my class as a member of the National Vo-Tech Honor Society with a 4.0 GPA.Who knew?
After struggling through 2 1/2 years of tech school , working full time, and raising kids...Expand for more
alone, I realized that Statesboro still had the same occupational hazard it always did... minimal opportunities and low pay!
So instead of accepting a position at Georgia Southern in my field of study, I began working at FedEx Express for almost double the salary. It's tough work, but I have to admit, it definitely pays the bills.
Currently I'm considering buying into the Subway franchise and becoming my own boss. I mean hey, I've got enough kids for first and second shift,LOL!
But seriously, I've been through many trials in my life that have made me a very strong and independant person and life is good! Sometimes I think you have to go through tough times to realize what's really important. So now I just enjoy the simple things like spending time with my family, whether it be riding four wheelers around the farm, camping, fishing, sunning, swimming, horseback riding, cooking out, or just building a fire in the back yard. And if weather makes us stay inside, there's always the fireplace and a good movie.
I'm still the life of the party, just in a more settled atmosphere!
