Teresa's Story
After I graduated, I got married to Steve Underwood ('72). We lived in San Clemente awhile, then moved to Hemet. I worked at odd jobs, and we moved around a lot: Pine Cove, Idyllwild, Indio, Thomas Mountain, Pinyon, San Jacinto. I had a son, Joel, in '78, another son, Patrick, in '80, and a daughter, Mikela, in '85. We moved to the central coast. In my odd jobs I finally settled into bookkeeping and accounting, and the rising field of personal computers. Got divorced in '88. In '93 I finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up, and moved to Durango, Colorado to study Anthropology. I got my BA from there in '96. ogram in Anthropology at UC Riverside. I finished my Masters, but am still working on my dissertation. I met a wonderful man in '98, we got married in '99, and had 9 wonderful years together. He passed away in 2007. Meanwhile, I got my dream job with the Pechanga Band of Mission Indians in Temecula, as a curator for their archaeological collections. As for my kids, Joel lives in Washington with his SO Katja, and his son Seth. Patrick lives in Colorado with his wife Jodi, and 2 daughters, Sareth and Freya and a son, Rowan. Mikela graduated last year from Humboldt State, and is a teaching assistant at the Pechanga elementary school.
