Teresa's Story
Life
This past August marked the first school opening since I began kindergarten at Shaw School that I was not in a classroom at the start of a new year. Yippee! After teaching for 32 years, I am curious to see how a "civilian" spends a weekday morning.
During my far-too-few visits back to the city, I have stayed on The Hill to more easily maneuver around the city I remember, since I did not learn to drive until I left. Greatly missed are the bike rides through Tower Grove Park, the nightime games of kick-the-can, the visits to the library on Hampton, the roller skating sessions in Tilles Park, the "grownup" bus excursions to the Art Museum or to shop at the downtown Famous, and the walks around the neighborhood with my transistor plastered to my ear!
My family moved to Doniphan, MO, just after my junior year at Southwest. I would have been in the class of '70.

d a floating business that has new owners and is growing leaps and bounds. Now I can participate in river activities , and work part-time helping others enjoy our area.
To celebrate my retirement I spent three weeks in France at the start of the summer. Now that I have conquered flying, hope more travel adventures are in my future.
I am divorced with one child, a son, who works for the US Forest Service here. So far I have not been able to make him understand how charmed I think my childhood was, growing up in St. Louis in the 50's and 60's. He has experienced Busch Stadium, Forest Park and the Zoo, the Science Center, all somewhat shadowed by the traffic one encounters. Much of our town is surrounded by Mark Twain National Forest and miles of gravel roads, so rushed, frantic, crowded interstates are an especially frustrating obstacle to enjoying the city of his mom's youth.
Curious to learn how my classmates' lives have evolved - both what we share and what is unique.
