Teresa's Story
Old friends remember me as being very shy and introverted. Not that way anymore after going through nursing school. It made me become outgoing since we have to be advocates for our patients, especially in the ICU where I worked. Got an ADN degree from Va Western in 1994 and then went to work at the VA. Then went back and got a BSN in 2000. Worked in the ICU at the VA for 9 years. Love my patients and my job even though it could be very stressful at times.

other normal people take for granted like going to the movies or out to eat. If I do try those things on a rare occasion, end up paying for it for days with unrelenting pain. Not worth it usually. Lost a lot of "friends" over it. When they found out I couldn't do anything and it wasn't fun anymore, they were done. It was hard to find out how many real friends there were left. However, the ones that stuck by me are priceless. I definitely learned that what you can do for someone shouldn't be why they are your friend. This accident taught me some painful but valuable life lessons I wouldn't trade for anything. It makes you know what is really important.
Still enjoy photography and photo editing and love reading. Love spending time with my 6 cats and like to knit. And, yes, even though I don't get out much, I can still shop online just as good as I could before!
