Terrel's Story
OK, lets do this... I was the odd-ball as I liked the country life and wanted to be a farmer. Good Grief! Mr. Hill in the agriculture department helped me grow a lot and opened my horizons. Went to Pierce College and became the farm crew boss there. Moved to Missouri in 1970 to start my farm. Learned a lot more from the locals and worked for a great man (Also named Hill) who taught this greenhorn a lot! Married in '72, built the farm up and divorced in '80. No kids or I don't think I could of done what was needed. Finally dealt with my reality, that I was gay and became honest with myself and the people around me. Difficult step in life then. Sold the farm, moved to St. Joseph, MO and was promptly swindled out of all my gains. Went through a restructuring of my life (read; "Hell") and started doing home repair work to rebuild my finances. t (repeat). Renovated a couple homes in the process and made a profit but missed the rural life. Bought 17 acres and a dump of a house (25 years ago today) and have built that up to 420 acres and a reasonable home to live in and entertain friends. One of the fun things about being gay is you don't have so many society rules, I can bake a cake, sew drapes and get in the semi and haul a load of grain to town and run my bulldozer in the afternoon. No boredom or limits with that variety. Retired from farming 3 years ago, now rent the land out but continue to live in the country where I belong. Do a couple part time jobs on the side to keep me out of trouble. Have remained friends with Donna Bell over all these years through trials and tribulations (both ways) and am proud of that. Many blessings for me and hope the reader of this feels the same for themselves.
