Terrence's Story

Life Freshman and sophmore years at Hopewell, junior and senior years at Quigley. Went from highschool to St. Fidelis College Seminary. Aspirations for priesthood. Left in 1976 - odd jobs, worked in social services in New Brighton until 1981. Went to Pitt and earned a masters degree in social work. Could not find gainful employment in Western PA and applied for jobs in DC area. Hired by Arlington County Virginia Gov't in 1985. I was hired as a social worker to do adult protective services investigations (still do.) Earned my clinical license in 1995 - so I now have initials after my name. Lived mostly in Alexandria, VA until March 2000. For most of my life I was happy being single and planned on spending the rest of my life that way. s far as St. Petersburg, Russia and Tierra del Fuego, Argentina and everywhere in between. My favorite place in the whole world is Rome. In 1998 I was swept off my feet by a charming Texan and the love of my life (no doubts.) I sold my condo in Alexandria (it quadrupled in price 2 years after I sold it) and moved into Marc's wonderful Victorian home on Capitol Hill - built shortly after the Civil War ended. I mostly like living in Washington - there is always something to do - events are either free or very expensive - nothing in between! I, sadly, however, remain to be a condo person and still have not adjusted to the weekend tasks of home maintenance. I should be able to retire in 2009 with full benefits and will hopefully be able to work a "fun" job for 10 more years before collecting Social Security.
