Terri's Story

Well, here we are 30 years since graduation! Where did the time go? I am really hoping that all of you will complete your classmates.com profiles and drop a few before & after pictures on there too! I LOVE seeing what you all are up to. I don't know about you, but I am going to spend the next few months getting re-acquainted old friends, studying my yearbooks and digging deep into my memories of our school years. So at the reunion, I won't be too embarassed if it takes me a while to remember people's faces & names! We are nearing 50 - so I guess that comes with age! I do have very fond memories of our youth! So, here's a recap of me - just in case any of you remember me or don't! I see a a lot of you are grandparents now! Congratulations! I pray I will be able to meet my kids' kids! I am still in the midst of raising my "babies"! I spent the first 13 years after graduation being single and loving it. (Well, not loving it all the time - deep down I really did want to find the "man of my dreams" and live happily ever-after.) Then on 5/29/1992 I did meet the "man-of-my-dreams". At the most unlikely place - The Roundhouse and Frosty's at Put-in-Bay. I had moved to Columbus. He is from Canton. We both went to the island with our friends to just have fun! I was convinced I was meant to be single forever! Maybe I would adopt kids and be a single parent?...But, Yes, as corny as it sounds, it was love at first sight. Our eyes met from across the room (ok, bar) angels sang and the room filled with smoke (ok, it was cigarette smoke - BUT STILL it was quite romantic!) We were married almost exactly a year later. 3 Months after my Dad walked me down the aisle at my fairy-tale-type wedding, my Dad passed away at the young age of 55. It was shocking and devastating to all of us. After some time, Gregg and I managed to get back on our feet. Since not getting married until I was 32, we had some catching up to do with the rest of you, so we started our family a few years later. We had 3 babies in a little over 3 years! I was actually pregnant at our last reunion but didn't know it! It was a good thing we beat that biological timeclock, I had a short bout with some scary health problems after our 3rd was born, but thank God a hysterectomy 8 years ago took care of it. Knock on wood, all is ok now. We've been having a lot of fun and feel truly Blessed by God to have our 3 children and our life. The kids (girl, gi...Expand for more
rl, boy) are 12, 10 and 8 (and a half!) now. We're doing the traditional activities, homework, piano lessons, dance lessons, baseball, softball, volleyball, horses, girl scouts, Indian Guides, Indian Princess, camping, etc. And a few new activities we never had - Wii, texting, cell phones, IM, internet, American Idol, email, etc! My 12 year-old wants to wear makeup and "go out" with boys. Although they don't "go" anywhere.?? Mamma Mia! I'm not ready for this! If you know me from grade school, I wasn't allowed to date (go steady) until I was 16! I won't make her wait THAT long, but pretty much I am going to go with my mom's rules! (Yeah, we'll see!) You know my mom put a curse on me when I was younger! She said "You wait until you have your own kids. You'll see." She would say "I hope you have kids just like you". Now, she laughs now when I sing the blues to her about how my kids don't pick up after themselves, makeup, date, go over to a friends house when the parents aren't home, etc! I guess my time has come! My mom was a wreck after my dad died. After 10 years, she did, however meet a fabulous man and remarried about 4 years ago. We threw them the wedding my mom never had. I couldn't have asked for a better "step-father". He still chuckles when I introduce him that way! Jack has 4 kids as well. All grown of course. Combined they have 8 kids, 8 in-laws, 21 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and one great granddaughter on the way! We all live in the area and get together often. One of my sisters is in Stow, the other in Sagamore Hills. My brother is in Cuyahoga Falls just around a couple corners from my mom. I work part-time from home. I sell home security systems for a company out of Columbus and teach skin care and makeovers through my Mary Kay Cosmetics business. I also do some marketing and merchandising once in a while. I love to play tennis. I enjoy writing. Although I don't have much time, I like to organize and catalog my digital photos and videos on the computer. I have pictures from when we were younger and will post those eventually! So please stop back and take a look at the pictures. Every so often I sell on ebay just to clear out the kids' toys they HAD to have and only used ONCE! Ok, 30 years all wrapped up in a few paragraphs - not too bad. Now, go write something about yourself and keep us all updated! I hope to hear from you soon and hope to see you in August! Take care! Terri
