Terri's Story
Life has been a great adventure..so far.
My high school years (and a few years following) were filled with such reckless abandon. I often wonder how I ever survived. I owe apologies and gratitude to those of you who accompanied me on those journeys. I feel fortunate to have shared so many experiences with so many people. For anyone reading this (friend or acquaintance) I am positive that you shaped my life in ways that no other group of people have done since.
Summarize 20 years: In 1991 I landed in the auto racing industry where I met my husband, Brad. We were married in 1995. We lived in Huntington Beach for almost 10 years. Together we started a nationwide mobile marketing company specializing in 53' trailers and logistical management. In 2004 we moved the family and the business to Charlotte, North Carolina. We wanted a slower pace and North Carolina seemed as good a choice as any. While I knew that I would miss California, I was very excited to experience a new life. I love it here. I have deer in my front yard and a lake in my backyard. The weather is pleasant yet always changing. It rains and snows and hails. I am awe-struck by the thunder and lightening storms. I now know what sweet-tea, boiled peanuts and buggies are. I see authentic mullets (male and female), rebel flags and men wearing overalls without shirts. People stop to let you in when traffic is heavy, everything is green and there is no anima...Expand for more
l control to pick up road kill. As if it couldn't get any better, my best friend of 30 years (Danette Diaz de Leon) also moved out here with her family as did my little brother (Dave) and his daughter. There are a few other Tillers in the Charlotte area, two in Ashville and one in Charelston.
My business is growing and changing all of the time. Owning a business comes with rewards and requirements. It is a constant tether that you never let out of your sight. It is all consuming. I can't imagine not being a business owner but at times, I fantasize about being able to leave it all behind when the clock strikes 5:30pm!
I love being a mom. Jake and Hailey are wonderful. Hailey is 10 and is going into the 5th grade next year. Jake is 18 and just finished his freshman year of college at Appalachian State University. It's hard to believe that I have a son who is a legal adult.
For fun, Brad and I joined the Charlotte Parrotheads. I can't say I am a die-hard Jimmy Buffet fan, but the people are awesome. For fun, we spend a lot of time on the lake wakeboarding and jet skiing. We try to get out to Myrtle Beach every few weeks for R&R. It seems odd having to drive 4 hours to get to a coast! We have made some great friends here in NC. I try to stop and appreciate the beautiful things and wonderful people I am surrounded by. It may sound sappy...I guess I'm getting old(er).
Life is a story.
I'd love to hear yours!
