Terri's Story

Life I graduated from the University of Sask. in 1981 with a Bach. of Sc. in Agriculture. This is when I met and married my husband Brian. We spent the next many years in Yorkton and then Prince Albert as Brian worked as a Sales rep for an ag company and I worked in private industry and then for the government. We started our family while living in PA and then moved to the Toronto area for about 6 years. That was a great adventure but when the opportunity to move back west came, we were thrilled and have now been in Calgary since 1995. I stayed home with the kids ( Krista, Zach and Ben) for 13 years. I have now been working in the retail industry for about 10 years. My current assignment is as an Associate Store Manager at a major dept. store. I find it challenging and rewarding and I'm proud of my team. Our kids have grown up to be amazing adults. Krista is working in Calgary and going to University part-time. She has a passion for music and is a very kind and caring individual. Zach has now graduated from Mount Saint Vincent Univ. in Halifax and moved back to Calgary and is working as a nutritionist. He's also a certified fitness trainer and loves to play football. Ben is working on his 4th year of his apprenticeship to be an auto mechanic. To say he has a passion for cars would be the understatement of the year. My husband shares that passion. we've taken to doing wine tours in BC for our vacations for the last couple years and have found some...Expand for more
great new wineries and restaurants in the process. I've also had the good fortune to take my mom with me on trips to the Maritimes at Thanksgiving for the last couple years to do some exploring and get in a quick visit with Zach. We've managed to do some traveling this year. our first ever winter vacation was to Cuba last winter. This summer we went to Iceland with my mother and Zach. What an amazing part of the world and a great experience in connecting with my heritage. I also became a grandmother this year. My daughter Krista had a baby boy in April and she named him Leo, after my father, Being a grandmother was worth waiting for. It's the best! We've had a good life and continue to be excited about the next few years as we have lots to do before we retire. Update fall 2013- Ben got married this summer. Krista got married too and had a baby girl this fall. Zach has returned to Canada last summer after 2 years modelling internationally . He is now working as a pharmaceutical rep. Update March 2014-My adventures in retail continue as Senior Manager, Store Operations at Sears Southcentre, my 8th assignment in 9 years, and it is definitely an adventure! Update June 2017- I retired from retail management last year, or should I say they retired me.... anyway, best thing that could have happened. I now call myself semi-retired and work part time in a doctors office. She's the doctor who helped me regain my health last year and it's working out very well.
